HAUTE COUTURE
A passion for fashion inspired Pamela’s HAUTE COUTURE series, where she uses physical materials to craft works of movement, light, and dimension. The first image in the series was produced with wire mesh, which Pamela sculpted and then shot, creating something sensual out of something ordinary. Scouring fabric stores, she was mesmerized by the tempting possibilities contained within their jam-packed shelves, bolts of intoxicating colors and textures, sumptuous silks, luxurious velvets, feathers dyed in flashy colors, all of which she has incorporated into her work. As a former dancer, a bolt of hot pink tulle set her imagination in motion, inspiring a dimensional twirl on a rich black background. That piece is called Ballerina. Pamela thinks of the series as style abstractions, provocative, lyrical and romantic.
